Instrumental Teaching
Rebecca currently teaches the violin, viola and piano at Exeter School and privately at her home in Chudleigh. Since training with the British Kodály Academy Rebecca's instrumental teaching has been hugely influenced by the ideas of Zoltan Kodály. She incorporates musicianship into her individual lessons. She also incorporates aspects of her experience of jazz and improvisation into her teaching. Whilst Rebecca is aware of the pressures to take music exams she believes strongly that the best musicians are not created by focusing on exams.
Musicianship Teaching
As part of Rebecca's training with the British Kodály in 2011 she began teaching pre-instrumental musicianship. The children learn key musical concepts through singing and musical games. Through a series of structured lesson plans based in the Kodály pedagogy, this offers a solid foundation and pathway to instrumental teaching.
Rebecca is currently running these classes for Doremi Devon at Belmont Park on Thursdays in Newtown, Exeter. For more information please visit: https://www.doremiconnect.co.uk/devon

Online Teacher Training and Adult Learning
In 2020 whilst we were all stuck at home, Rebecca began delivering teacher training sessions for the British Kodály Academy on their Foundation Course. It is a 10 week open access course for people wanting to find out more about Kodály approach to music education and offers an overview from Early Years through Primary and also includes a session on The Older Beginner.
Rebecca began working for Doremi Connect's adult online learning platform which also launched in 2020. Her sessions offer a way to regularly practice singing in solfa and are available as live classes and recordings. For more information visit: https://doremiconnect.co.uk/

Ensemble Teaching
Making music with other people is a key aspect of learning an instrument. Rebecca has been a chamber music coach for a number of different organisations including Exeter Young Strings and JUTP Music. In the summer of 2012 Rebecca teamed up with four local teachers, Ruth Molins, Ali Jones, Emma Welton and Fiona Mclean-Buechel to create Blue Sky Chamber Music, a summer course available for children and adult musicians.
